1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Toorta, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. What Toorta Does
Toorta is a digital wellness app that helps you reduce screen time through commitment-based accountability. You select one app to monitor, set a daily screen time limit, choose a commitment duration, and back your commitment with a refundable deposit. Toorta automatically tracks your usage and evaluates your progress weekly.
3. Commitment Deposits
How Deposits Work
- When you create a commitment, you place a weekly deposit (the "commitment deposit")
- Your deposit is held securely via Stripe, our payment processor
- At the end of each week, your usage is evaluated against your daily limit
- If you stay under your weekly limit: Your deposit for that week is returned in full
- If you exceed your weekly limit: Your deposit for that week is forfeited
Second Chance
- Each commitment includes one "Second Chance" opportunity
- If you exceed your limit for the first time, you may accept a Second Chance to retry that same week
- If you succeed after accepting a Second Chance, 90% of that week's deposit is returned
- The Second Chance opportunity is available only once per commitment, not once per week
Commitments Cannot Be Paused or Cancelled
- Once a commitment is created, it runs for the full duration you selected
- You cannot pause, cancel, or modify an active commitment
- This is by design — the commitment is the product
Refund Policy
- Deposits are returned automatically upon successful weekly evaluation
- Forfeited deposits are not refundable
- If a technical error causes an incorrect charge, contact us for a manual review and refund
4. Screen Time Tracking
How Tracking Works
- Toorta uses Apple's Screen Time APIs (FamilyControls and DeviceActivity) to monitor usage of your selected app
- Tracking runs automatically in the background via an iOS system extension
- Usage data is synced to our servers when you open the app or via background refresh
Tracking Accuracy
- Toorta tracks usage with approximately 1-minute precision for the first 2 hours of daily usage, and approximately 5-minute precision thereafter
- Tracked usage may be slightly less than actual usage. Toorta will never over-report your usage
- Very short app opens (under 1 minute) may not be detected
- Tracking only covers the app you selected on this device. Usage on other devices, via web browsers, or on apps you did not select is not tracked
Your Responsibilities
- You must keep Screen Time tracking enabled for Toorta to function
- You must open Toorta at least once during each commitment week to sync your usage data
- Disabling Screen Time permissions, uninstalling the monitored app, or tampering with tracking may result in your commitment being suspended and your deposit forfeited
5. Payments
- All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc.
- You authorize Toorta to charge your payment method for the weekly deposit amount when a commitment is created
- You authorize Toorta to charge your payment method for forfeited deposits when you exceed your weekly limit
- Successful week deposits are returned to your original payment method
- Toorta does not store your credit card details — all payment data is handled by Stripe
6. Account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Toorta
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
- You may delete your account at any time by contacting us
- Account deletion will not cancel active commitments or refund forfeited deposits
7. Limitation of Liability
- Toorta is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind
- We are not liable for losses resulting from inaccurate tracking, delayed syncs, or technical failures
- Our total liability is limited to the amount of deposits you have paid in the current commitment period
- We will make reasonable efforts to resolve technical issues that affect tracking accuracy or deposit handling
8. Modifications
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
These terms are effective as of February 2026.
